"Grimmwood" received its first huge update: Play together with your friends now!

Also French and Spanish languages added and there will be weekly dev streams, starting this Friday

08 June 2018 We're happy to announce that Grimmwood, a challenging social multiplayer RPG survival experience, received its first big update. In addition, the developers will create weekly dev streams directly on Steam, starting this Friday on 9PM CET respectively 12AM PST (noon).

But first now, lets take a look to all the new features:

Pick a village to play in and play together with your friends
This function allows players with each new character creation (for instance, after dying) to choose from a list of current villages in which their Steam friends are playing. For this function to work, those players need to be in Steam Public Mode. Additional information is displayed for each village, showing how many players are currently playing in it and how long the village is alive already. Of course, players are also able to choose a random village instead.

More languages
The game will be now fully localized both in French and Spanish.

New voting rules against "griefers"
In Grimmwood, playing as a team is key. Being too selfish or stealing all food on purpose annoys other players who really try to play the game s it is meant to. We now reworked the banish function in several ways:

New banishing rules
Banish votes will no longer be "deleted" at the end of the game day. Now, the vote will stay active until a deciding condition is met, with no time limit.
  • The conditions for deciding a vote are: a) 50% + 1 player have voted or b) at least 5 villagers have voted and there's at least one vote more either "for" or "against".
  • As soon as a vote has started for banishing someone and there's at least one more player voting for a kick, the villager in question cannot take any items from the Storage and cannot craft items in the Workshop. This rule was created to stop griefers from taking items (and often dumping them somewhere outside on the map) or destroying items through crafting.
  • Players who have to leave the village due to a successful vote against them, are leaving the village at the end of the game day.
Restricted Rejuvenation Elixir
As the Rejuvenation Elixir often were taken from the Storage by inexperienced players or griefers, we reduced its quantity to only one elixir per villager per day. Again this is meant as a protection against griefers and inexperienced players (since often the Rejuvenation Elixirs get stored in the Village Storage where everyone can take and use them.)

Developer Stream today!

The first developer stream will feature the following topics:
  • Become familiar the devs of Grimmwood
  • Get a detailed explanation of the update's new features
  • A "Pro Tips" part bringing some interesting hints or specific strategies
  • You will learn about planned upcoming features that are currently in the making
See you tonight! (Friday, 9PM CET / 12AM PST)

Earth Atlantis, the extraordinary shoot 'em up, is now available on PS4® and Xbox One!

Dive into an impressively stylized underwater world and track down 25 dangerous sea monsters

01 June 2018 Headup Games and Pixel Perfex announced today's release of the one-of-a-kind shoot 'em up Earth Atlantis for PlayStation®4 and Xbox One. It's available for $14.99, €14.99, £13.49. For the first week, there is a release discount on Xbox One with 20% off.

Explore mankind's destroyed and sunken main capitals, lying deep down at the bottom of the sea as ruins of steel and stone. Earth Atlantis'  impressive underwater world is inhabited by terrifying sea monsters, hybrids of machines and creatures from the deep that were only known from fairy tales and as rumors among sailors. Now they are roaming freely through the aquatic world.

You're going to hunt those monsters in fierce fights using four different submarines types, each equipped with individual weapons for different hunting styles. Enjoy a unique art style reminiscent of old explorers sketchbooks from the 14th century, a time when the seas were yet to be explored completely.

To see Earth Atlantis' extra-ordinary look in motion, check out its action-packed release trailer.

Re-balanced gameplay mechanics, resulting from user feedback from the earlier Switch version, make Earth Atlantis more enjoyable than ever: Retro fans will be happy to hear that they can also use the d-pad for steering their ship, while some game elements are now much more intuitive and easy to use for non-hardcore shooter players as well.

Features
  • Original side-scrolling shooter with a monster-hunting objective
  • Unique “Old Sketching” visual style
  • Two game modes: Quest mode, Hunter mode
  • 4 Playable ships with unique weapons
  • 25 large monsters and 4 enemy ships to hunt with 12 special events to complete

Awards

Earth Atlantis won the "Vermilion Gate" Award (Best in Show) during the 5th BitSummit 2017 in Kyoto, as well as the "Excellence in Art" Award during BIC Festival 2016 in Busan.

About Grimmwood

You’re in a village in an ageless, mystical forest, together with up to 30 other strangers all of which are real, live players. Together you need to defend your village against the merciless monster hordes who unleash their wrath against your shelter every night. Use the daytime wisely to explore, gather resources, upgrade and repair. But to be able to do all that you have to eat, drink and rest, because every action in the game takes its toll on your stamina and sanity.

The Gameplay
Every night monsters attack your village. Use the daytime and your stamina points to explore the procedurally generated forest, find weapons and useful items, collect food and resources to upgrade and forficate the village. Share tasks and decisions with the other players and work together, because night by night the monsters attacks will become more fierce… And the village must survive at all costs!

The World
The world of Grimmwood is engulfed by a nameless 16th century war raging across the continent. The Villagers are common folk, refugees from the big cities who seek sanctuary in the depths of the ageless Forest. Many of them have lost their loved ones and all their belongings… everything but their will to live and see another day.

The Village
The village which the survivors have discovered deep in the Great Forest seems a lot older – probably even with by centuries. It is destitute of any signs of life – nothing to even hint on what might have happened to its former inhabitants.

The Monsters
The Great Forest is old and vast. There are things here never seen by any man… who lived to tell the tale. The villagers are not wanted here – they only disturb the natural order of things in this dark and secluded part of the world.

The Mystical Forces
A lot of things that happen in the Great Forest go beyond anything the villagers have ever experienced or have the capacity of understanding. Resurrection, mystical artefacts, herbs and potions with amazing effects on the human body – there’s a lot to be discovered, examined… and probably feared.

FEATURES

• Against all Odds: Survive by turning a bunch of strangers into a sworn fellowship.

• Every Game is a new Journey: Huge, procedurally generated hex grid forest map to explore – 600 tiles in size!

• Choose your Path wisely: Every action costs stamina points of which you have only a limited number each day.

• Continuous Asynchronous Multiplayer: Log in at any time during the real-time 24-hour day cycle to gear up with your fellow villagers and fortify the defenses or venture into the wild together.

• Keep your Body and Soul in check: Sanity and condition systems which will directly and indirectly affect your efficiency and playstyle.

• Strong Emphasis on Social Interaction: In-game Chat and Forum, where all key decisions are put up for discussion.

• Permadeath, Roguelike Elements: Everything you bring with you to the next Village is your knowledge and your ingenuity.

• Play by the Rules - or don’t: Vote to expel the Villagers who don’t contribute to the Village survival or simply try to ruin everybody’s experience.
